Mid-20th Century
1961 - Hockaday moves to the new Welch Road campus and builds an all-new facility that includes (2) two-story residential buildings with accompanying home-like living spaces in the forms of the Tarry House “living rooms” and “kitchenettes” as well as gracious residentially-scaled outdoor pool, separate entries and associated parking. From a site planning perspective, these facilities were also physically located as close as possible to a residential neighborhood of single-family, detached homes. Great care was taken to create a wonderful living experience for Hockaday’s boarders.
21st Century
2013 - Hockaday renovates the mid-century modern residence halls by actively soliciting and accepting donations from an Alumnae donor base of 9,000+ women in recognition of the School’s Centennial Celebrations
2021 - The current Board of Trustees is trying to sunset the Hockaday Boarding Department in the midst of Covid with much confusion and little transparency.
